homebrewinstaller reviewThe HomeBrewInstaller promises to unlock your Nintendo Wii and give you all of the same great features as a modchip, without the hassle of soldering a modchip into your console. My HomeBrewInstaller review is going to put all of that to the test to see if it can live up to its claims!

HomeBrewInstaller Features

  • Play copied games
  • Play imported games
  • Watch DVD’s on your Wii
  • Emulators for classic consoles
  • Compatible with all system versions

What You Get

When you buy the HomeBrewInstaller you get access to a members area where you can download the actual HomeBrewInstaller as well as supporting guides to help you get it up and running. Its worth pointing out, any updates to the HomeBrewInstaller are also made available here.

You also get a free Nintendo Wii cheats book with over 2000+ cheats, this is pretty good for quick reference!

HomeBrewInstaller Setup

Installing the HomeBrewInstaller was fairly straight forward. You should note though, you do need an SD memory card and a way to copy files to it from your computer. This isn’t made immediately clear on their website! If you dont have a memory card reader, you can use a digital camera etc that takes an SD memory card or borrow one from a friend.

mario-dvd-attackOnce you have copied the HomeBrewInstaller to an SD memory card, all you have to do is put in your Wii and sit back! Follow the included guide to start the setup process and then the HomeBrewInstaller will take over and set everything up for you automatically!

The guide was well written and easy to understand, but if you do have any problems the HomeBrewInstaller team offer 24/7 support via the members area

I was pleasantly surprised at how pain free this was!

HomeBrewInstaller In Action

The HomeBrewInstaller more than lived up to it’s bold claims. I had downloaded a homebrew game to test with and burnt it to a DVD, and it just worked. The Wii loaded my game I had burnt to a blank DVD without hesitation! I initially had troubles getting a DVD to play, but after much fiddling around I realized the DVD disc itself was at fault, not the Wii as I couldn’t get it to play in my normal DVD player!

I have spent most of my time playing with the emulators though, you can literally play any SNES or Megadrive game you can think of! I have wasted hours playing my classic favorites, namely Super Smash TV (anyone remember that?). You will never launch the virtual console again, its simply amazing!

HomeBrewInstaller Review Conclusion

The HomeBrewInstaller definitely lives up to its claims! It makes unlocking your Wii a breeze and has some serious advantages over a modchip because of this. Just bear in mind you will need an SD memory card to install it!
