How To Mod Wii Without Chip Installation – My Experience

I was wrong, very wrong. All of the information I found was outdated, incorrect and misleading which actually lead to me breaking my Wii and I couldnt even get past the first screen that says press ‘A’ to continue! I was going crazy trying to work out how to get my Wii working again!

If you want to unlock your Nintendo Wii you have 3 options-
1. Buy A Pre-Unlocked Wii
You can buy pre-unlocked Wii’s but you have to pay the price and it is not cheap. They can go for upto $750 which is ridicolous, no body is going to pay that extorinate amount for a pre-unlocked Wii.
2. Find A Free Guide Online
This was my original choice, mainly because it was free. However as you already know this was a disaster for me which ended up killing my Wii due to the outdated inconsistent information available.
From my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE I would not recommend this Wii modding option

Is there any other way to install it other than using an SD memory card?

You need the SD memory card to install it, but any size will do and can be had very very cheap these days.

So if I install the soft mod, I will be able to play wii backups without mod chip? I wouldn't know where to start to install wii mod chip, and certainly cannot solder, but this seems like a better solution!

Dont suppose that shop actually sold modchips by any chance
You don’t need one at all, you can mod your Wii without modchip installation or anything like that. Just get one of the soft chips, install it and your done! Takes like 10 minutes tops!

hi mate i just wondered if you could tell me how i can change my friends wii back to normal cos she gave it so someone to be chipped/modded but when she got it back it plays coppied games ok just it wont play any proper games only the ones she had with the wii when she got it. then i can get this soft mod that you advise in this blog and have the best of both worlds

Was it fitted with a physical modchip when the wii modding guy did it? If she did, unfortunately its near impossible to remove unless you can solder.
If it was modded with a soft chip, then you can go into the system menu and reset to factory settings and it will be back to its original state instantly. If you need any more help with how to mod the wii just let me know mate.

I just found your site and it looks like it has a lot of great info, I wish I had found it a year ago before I paid someone to mod my wii. I am pretty sure he did a soft mod and it has worked well for about a year, now it won’t work at all. I can still play factory Wii disks and the NES games on the SD card but things like Neo Gamma, Wii flow and USB loader are not working. I just get an black screen with an error message. Will reloading the soft mod do any good?

Sounds like at some point the Wii’s software has updated itself, you just need to reapply the soft mod and it will be back to normal

Yes it got updated a while back to do so. There was a period of about 2 weeks when 4.3 first came out that it didn’t work though, but they soon sorted it!
my brother chipped mine for me a while ago and it worked fab until some idiot tried going on internet (think that was it) he tried to uninstall it and put it on again but wont do it, any advice please
