What Does The Wii Softchip Do?

The Wii softchip is a small piece of software that makes changes to the Nintendo Wii’s file system allowing you to bypass built in copy protection systems and digital rights management. This means you can play copied games or run a number of homebrew applications to extend the functionality of your Nintendo Wii.

Installing the Wii softchip will let you do a number of things on your Nintendo Wii-

1. Play Copied Games
The primary purpose of the Wii soft chip is to bypass the built in copy protection of the Nintendo Wii. This means you can load and play copied Wii & Gamecube games with the Wii soft mod.
